I never thought I’d see the day, but it’s here: I’m a Smoothie Person. I take out my Vitamix, fill it with wholesome, cold ingredients, and give it a whirl. Minutes later I’m sipping on a sweet treat feeling very smug. A drink made of plants! I am a health goddess.

Every Ingredient I’ve Used in a Smoothie Ever:
- Frozen bananas
- Frozen strawberries
- Frozen mango
- Frozen pineapple
- Frozen blue/black/raspberries
- Orange juice
- Spinach
- Kale
- Canned pumpkin
- Oatmeal
- Soy Milk
- Almond Milk
- Hemp Milk
- Chia seeds
- Hemp seeds

- Flax oil

However! There is one recipe I keep going back to: the easy green smoothie.
It’s sweet and light, plus it hides a serving of vegetables. The ingredients are mostly zero waste which is also cool. Read below for details, or scroll to the bottom for the recipe.
I always keep a massive amount of frozen bananas. If you put unfrozen banana chunks on top of each other and then into the freezer, they stick together. You can avoid this by freezing them on one layer on a baking sheet and then transferring them to a container. Or, let them get stuck together and claw at them desperately each time you make a smoothie. (What I do!!)
Whenever I buy spinach or kale I end up with too much aka I don’t want to eat it. Instead of letting it go bad, I add it to my Plastic Bag of Greens.
Spirulina is algae, I think? Internet liars make a lot of health claims about it, but it’s expensive and tastes sort of funky so I just add a bit.
Normally I would use hemp or chia seeds, but I’ve been trying to use up this flax oil before I move.
